Six destinations are participant's in this interesting marketing project: Hudiksvall, Luleå , Sundsvall and Umeå in Sweden and Pori and Rauma in Finland
Gulf of Bothnia, the new cruising area in the Baltic Sea offers a lot of interesting opportunities for cruise lines and their passengers and we invite you to take a look at each destination's shore excursion pages! In addition, worthy of particular mention is the Hoga Kusten and the scenic view which unfolds when en route northbound to Luleå. It is listed by UNESCO as a one of the World's Heritages sites. Further sites listed on UNESCO'S list can be found in Luleå and Rauma.
International cruise ships have started to visit our ports and have been highly satisfied with not only the decision to make the calls to our region, but also the arrangements made on their behalf have been well received. The 2008 cruising season will welcome seven cruise vessels which will make some 13 calls. Our indications for 2009 also look very promising and we are delighted that bookings continue to be made on an increasing basis.
The Gulf of Bothnia land territories including Swedish Lapland, the home to Europe's last remaining wilderness, are areas where you are very close to the nature with its many scenic views - fauna - and if you are lucky wild animals like moose and bear. You will also find a surfeit of interesting culture and many historical attractions. The whole area has during the summer period mid June to mid August more sun hours than any other area in Sweden and Finland. It can also boast being one of the few areas with clean and fresh air! The closeness to the Arctic Circle, with 24 hours daylight from the mid of May to early August, opens up activities which can only be found here. What about golfing in sunshine, swimming from the beach or even just be within the Arctic Circle - all at midnight?
The attraction of the Baltic Sea for international cruisers is increasing year by year. During 2007 more than 420.000 cruise passengers visited the Baltic Sea and there has been a constant 10% increase every year. The Baltic Sea is highly appreciated by passengers for, among other , its rich culture and the opportunity to visit many countries during one cruise. You are welcome to visit our area and experience what we can offer you and your cruise passengers in our six ports/destinations!
